100km in less than 30 hours…

On July 15th myself and 3 friends are doing the Oxfam Trailwalker trek. The brief is, well, brief:

"Trailwalker UK is a 100km trek across the South Downs of England, starting in Petersfield and ending in Brighton. You and three friends have 30 hours to complete the trek and you must stay together as a team for the duration of the challenge."

There's no opportunity to sleep, and rest stops are going to have to be minimal if we're going to complete it in time. It's going to be absolutely physically and mentally exhausting. Army cadets do the same walk with a slightly less inviting title. They call it 'The Death March'. Perhaps most gruelling of all I'm going to be away from the Internet for a full 30+ hours. No Google for more than a full day? What if someone asks me a question I don't know the answer to?! I shudder to think. (That said, I'm taking a compact camera and a Dictaphone, so I promise the whole event will be thoroughly Blogged the next day for your amusement. When I'm unable to walk). The end of an era

So... the Welsh boys have now both moved back to Swansea. Is this really the beginning of the end? The University years are actually drawing to a close. Jo's coming back from Sri Lanka but promptly going back out to Cambodia.? Gem's moving home after the Maldives to continue her NHS manager training. Dawso's moving to Mexico to do a PHD is astrophysics, Jonny's very nearly a fully fledged teacher and is off to travel the world.? Laura's of on her Teach First scheme.? Gaz is shipping out to Australia to be with Gabs.? Owen's off travelling for a year... Brighton's going to be pretty quiet! Uploaded a couple of group photos from the beach. In Herne Bay.
